Hogan Named Chairman Of National Economic Committee

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has been named chairman of the economic development and commerce committee of the National Governors Association.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/1D8BHqm) reports that the governor's spokesman Matt Clark said Monday that Hogan will be able to meet committee work demands as he continues to serve as governor.

In June, Hogan was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Clark says the work will not interfere with Hogan's recovery.

Clark says the association plans to meet with Hogan and his team soon to map out a direction for the committee.

In a statement, Hogan says he looks forward to working with other governors to ensure that federal policies are helping states to create jobs and promote economic growth.

This is Hogan's first national appointment since his election in November.
