Historic Baltimore Theater Marquee To Be Lit In Arts Area

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A nonprofit developer is celebrating a milestone in its historic landmark renovation in Baltimore's new Station North arts district by lighting a historic theater marquee for the first time since 1959.

Developer Jubilee Baltimore plans to light the marquee Tuesday evening at The Centre. The building's 1939 theater facade features an art deco marquee and tower.

The Centre will become the new home for the film programs of Johns Hopkins University and the Maryland Institute College of Art, along with other nonprofit groups.

Jubilee Baltimore spent two years and $19 million on renovating the long-vacant building.
