Haynie: Ravens Take CB Humphrey With Other Alabama Stars Still On The Board

The Baltimore Ravens went defense with the 16th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on Thursday night. They selected CB Marlon Humphrey out of the University of Alabama to be their first round choice.

With fellow Crimson Tide stars TE O.J. Howard, LB Rueben Foster and DL Jonathan Allen still on the board, Humphrey was the choice of GM Ozzie Newsome and crew.

Even though the Ravens brought in former Dallas Cowboys DB Brandon Carr in the offseason, Humphrey was added to a cornerback group that includes Jimmy Smith and Tavon Young.

Howard, who wound up going to Tampa Bay at 19, is an intriguing prospect as a big play tight end, but the Ravens elected to bolster a secondary that has had it's share of problems over the last couple of seasons.

Baltimore still needs talent at linebacker, they need a pass rusher and they need help on the offensive line. Of course, you can never have enough playmakers on offense.

It will be fun to watch the Ravens try to fill those needs over the weekend.
