Situation 'All Clear' After Shots Fired Near Hopkins Medical Campus

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Reports of gunshots near the Johns Hopkins medical campus puts the entire school of public health on lockdown. No injuries were reported, but detectives did find evidence that a gun was fired.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the scare for this large medical community.

Police have cleared the scene at the Johns Hopkins medical campus after thousands of employees were placed on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes.

It all started around 8:30 p.m. Monday when someone reported hearing gunshots near the campus coming from the 1700 block of E. Monument Street.

A text message and email alert was sent out to Hopkins employees, warning them to shelter in place.

City police flooded the scene, but did not find a shooter or a victim.

Monument Street was blocked off for some time as investigators combed the scene.

All police will say is that there is evidence someone fired a gun in the area, though no suspects have been arrested.

Hopkins officials say the lockdown was called out of an "abundance of caution." It was lifted around 9 p.m.
