Grandson Of Former Lawmaker Pleads Guilty To Theft

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The grandson of a former Baltimore lawmaker has pleaded guilty to felony theft of campaign funds.

State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt announced Thursday that Philip Harrison of Salisbury pleaded guilty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. Harrison is the grandson of former Delegate Hattie Harrison, who died last year.

Judge Paul Hacker imposed a sentence of five years in prison with all but 15 days suspended. Harrison also was sentenced to three years of supervised probation. He also was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service and to pay restitution of $17,628, which is the amount he stole from the campaign account.

Harrison was the delegate's campaign treasurer from July 2006 to November 2009.
