Gov. Hogan Issues Statement On Mass Shooting In Ca.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Governor Larry Hogan issues a statement on the mass shooting in Southern California.

A husband and wife opened fire at a social services facility in San Bernardino Wednesday, killing 14 people. More than a dozen others were injured.

The suspects led police on a chase, then a violent shootout.

"The First Lady and I are immensely saddened by the recent attacks in California. Our deepest prayers are with the victims and their families. Over the next several days, both the U.S. and Maryland State flags will be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of yesterday's attacks," Governor Hogan said.

"Our national leaders must do everything in their power to keep our country safe from any force that wants to cause us harm," he continued. "Here in Maryland our security teams and police forces are remaining vigilant and are in contact with federal authorities. We will be aggressive and proactive."

Investigators believe the suspects may have had more than one motivation.
