Ravens: Team Has Had Conversations With Kaepernick, Discussed RGIII

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Ravens are reportedly considering Colin Kaepernick as well as RGIII for quarterback roles on the team.

During a fan forum held on Sunday prior to an open practice, Ravens president Dick Cass said the team has had "direct discussions with Colin Kaepernick," and says he wants to play, according to reporter Jeff Zrebiec with our media partner The Baltimore Sun.

Zrebeiec reports the Ravens are weighing the decision.

During the meeting, the Ravens say Bisciotti said the team has had conversations about Kaepernick with many current players on the team, including starting quarterback Joe Flacco and tight end Benjamin Watson. Bisciotti also acknowledged talking to sponsors and fans about the controversial quarterback.

"We want to win games right now and I'm not sure that he is going to help us do that," said Bisciotti. "I hope we do what is best for the team and balance that with what's best for the fans, and your opinions matter to us … We're very sensitive to it, and we're monitoring it, and we're still, as Ozzie says, scrimmaging it and we're trying to figure out what's the right tact. So pray for us," said Bisciotti.

Additionally, the Ravens posted on social media that Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti revealed that the Ravens have had discussions about bringing RGIII in for a workout.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was joined in the forum by Cass, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome, former Ravens Jamal Lewis and Edwin Mulitalo, former Baltimore Colt Lenny Moore, and local youth football players.

The meeting with Goodell and the Ravens management team was set to meet with more than 100 Ravens season ticket holders.

The open practice will start at 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by Fireworks Night, "an event highlighted by post-practice autographs for children and a fireworks/laser show."
