Girl Critical After Rescue From Baltimore Creek

BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) — A 9-year-old girl is in critical condition after nearly drowning in a northeast Baltimore creek.

Witnesses say the girl was walking across a pipe on Sunday afternoon at Herring Run Park when she slipped and fell into the water. The current pushed her into a deep part of the creek.

Emergency crews pulled the girl from the water and were able to resuscitate her. She was rushed to the hospital.

Parents say they worry about how easy it is for children to get access to the creek. It's just steps away from the playground and there are no barriers to keep them out.
