Getting To Know Dwayne Allen

Wayne Inman, High School coach of Indianapolis Colts Tight End Dwayne Allen, joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to discuss his special relationship with the Colts Tight End. Wayne was in town to accept Allen's award given to him by his teammates and talked about when him and the Dwayne first crossed paths. "I had just accepted a job at Terry Sanford High School which was at one time the pinnacle football in Cumberland County and the area had been down for several years. I'm there not to save a young mans life, but I'm there to find a football player. Dwayne Allen just happened to walk by my office that day, and I believe in divine intervention. I believe god puts us in certain place in a certain time for a certain reason. How we act on it is up to us."

Coach Inman has a special relationship with Allen and Wayne discussed how their friendship grew to a father-son type of bond. "The thing about Dwayne was he sort of had a chip on his shoulder. I gave him ten dollars and I said 'You can go buy a Wendy's cheeseburger, you can buy a little bag of dope, or you can go get a physical.' I said if you get a physical I will see you at practice on Monday and for some reason he decided to get the physical.  He showed up to practice on that Monday and I would say the rest is history but it turns out it was only just beginning."
