Excitement Builds Ahead Of Gervonta Davis' Big Fight In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Gervonta Davis is getting ready for his big fight back home in Baltimore.

The two-time super featherweight champion is bringing his title home and is gearing up to face off against Ricardo Nuñez at the Royal Farms Arena July 27.

Davis took the stage at Mondawmin Mall at a fan rally on Wednesday to thank the city - and his fans -- for supporting his big fight.

"His resume speaks for itself," Leonard Ellerbe, of Mayweather Productions, said. "He's the most exciting fighter in the entire sport."

Davis said his fight at Royal Farms Arena is a dream come true.

"I never thought I would fight in Baltimore City in a big arena," Davis said. "I always watched it on TV, people coming home to their hometown to fight."

Davis has an undefeated record, something his fans want to see continue in his hometown.

"He's going to do what he does best," James Swann, of Baltimore, said. "One of the best boxers of all time, one of the best."

Davis said that he has felt the encouragement from his fan base.

"I feel the support, I feel the love, I just can't wait for the fight," he said.

And neither can the fans.

"When tickets are available, I'm buying some," Devyn Epps, of Baltimore, said.
