Gary Williams Reflects On Head To Head Battles With The Late Great Dean Smith

Gary Williams is the former Head Coach of the Maryland Terrapins.

Gary joined Ed and Steve to talk about the life of the late great Dean Smith.

Gary started off by talking about the life of Dean Smith saying "I got the chance to coach against him from 89-90 until he retired, we had a lot of great games...he and Coach K were the guys we looked at as the way we needed to build our program." As for the rivalry with north Carolina and Smith Gary said "when you get in a rivalry two things can happen, you can become friends or enemies and our rivalry with Carolina is how I got into Dean's circle." Gary said it was "an honor" to coach against him and talked about Dean Smith's innovations and how tough it was to coach against him.
