Gaithersburg Police: 7-Eleven Clerk Fatally Stabbed

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police say a man has been charged with fatally stabbing a clerk at a Gaithersburg convenience store.

Police say Shaun King, 36, attacked the clerk unprovoked in the 7-Eleven store on Snouffer School Road early Thursday. A second worker called 911 and as officers arrived, police say they saw King leaving with what appeared to be blood on his hands and clothes. After King was handcuffed, police say officers found a box cutter in his pocket. King tried to run, but was quickly caught.

The injured clerk was identified as Abdul Ghaffar, 63, of Gaithersburg. He had cuts to his neck, chin and wrists and was taken to an area hospital, where police say he died.

Police say King has been charged with first-degree murder.
