Gaithersburg Man Sentenced To 17 Years For Bank Robbery

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Gaithersburg man has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for robbing a bank in Laurel.

Fifty-five-year-old Mark Edward Coulter was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore.

According to court documents, Coulter went into PNC Bank in May 2012. Prosecutors say he gave a teller a note saying the bag he carried had chemicals in it.

Authorities say Coulter fled with $4,500, leaving the bag behind. DNA evidence from the bag implicated Coulter.
