Funeral Set For Midshipmen Who Died Skateboarding

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Naval Academy says a funeral is scheduled for a midshipman who died after a skateboarding accident.

Midshipman Third Class Hans Loewen, of Hampstead, N.C. died March 29 after a skateboarding accident a week earlier at Assateague State Park in Berlin.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at noon at the Naval Academy's Main Chapel. Burial will take place at the Naval Academy Cemetery.

Loewen was involved with the academy's adventure racing team, rock climbing club and the American Nuclear Society.
