Funeral Set For City Officer Killed In Crash Involving Scooter

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A funeral is set for Baltimore City Police Officer Craig Chandler.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 18 at 12 p.m. at Ruck Funeral Home in Baltimore.

On November 23, Chandler and three other officers were in pursuit of a man on a scooter.

Police say when the man tried to dash into an alley, the cruiser struck him, causing both the scooter and the car to collide with a light pole. Officer Chandler was seriously hurt.

Nearly seven weeks later, on Friday, Jan. 9, he died as a result of complications from surgery.

Chandler leaves a wife and two small children.

A viewing will be held Saturday, Jan. 17 at Ruck Funeral Home from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
