Funeral Held For 83-Year-Old Woman Reportedly Killed By 14-Year-Old
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An 83-year-old woman believed to be sexually assaulted and murdered by a 14-year-old was laid to rest Friday.
Friends and neighbors visited Dorothy May Neal for the final time at the 11th Hour Ministries International. During her lifetime, she did more than worship there.
"She would do anything to help anybody," said Pastor Dianna Roy-Carter. "She would work with our church as a missionary and she was always available to help somebody,"
Police say Tyrone Harvin was doing chores for Neal when he beat her, raped her, and left her to die.
14-Year-Old Arrested For Murder, Rape Of 83-Year-Old
Harvin faces several charges, including first-degree murder and first-degree rape.
"Seniors are not safe," said Neal's friend Evelyn Lee. "I don't know what we're going to do to protect them. Our problem is protecting them from people who should know better,"
"Even though she died a tragic death, I really believe she has found peace in Jesus," said Roy-Carter.
Neal will be taken to her family home in Alabama for burial.
