Frost potential overnight in Maryland; cool Friday on tap

Frost potential overnight in Maryland

MARYLAND TONIGHT: FROSTY FOR AREAS NORTH & WEST OF THE BELTWAY
With clear skies and light winds, temperatures fall quickly after dark. Much of the Baltimore metro will dip into the 30s, with downtown staying just a bit warmer in the low 40s. Frost becomes most likely north and west of the Beltway, where colder pockets form away from the city heat. If you've still got plants outside, one more night of protection isn't a bad idea.

MARYLAND FRIDAY: SUNNY BUT STILL COOL
We stay dry and mostly sunny, although a few afternoon clouds may drift by. Highs reach the mid-50s to near 60 — classic fall weather that feels great in the sun but cools off fast in the shade and breeze. Winds will be lighter than earlier this week, making it a really pleasant day overall.

MARYLAND THIS WEEKEND: STILL DRY, MORE CLOUDS LATER
Saturday and Sunday remain dry as high pressure lingers, but clouds should slowly increase as a storm takes shape well to our southwest. Highs stay in the 50s with chilly mornings in the 30s to low 40s. It's a great weekend for anything outdoors — just layer up early and late. Forecast for the Ravens Sunday looks good with temps in the mid and upper 50s but skies will be overcast.

MARYLAND EARLY–MID NEXT WEEK: CHILLY RAIN & RAW FEEL RETURN
This is where our weather pattern changes significantly. A strong storm system will gather across the southern U.S. and lift moisture toward Maryland on Monday. Clouds will thicken through the day, and rain may arrive by late afternoon or evening — especially south of Baltimore first. It will already feel cooler and damp.

We could see some showers for southern sections as early as Monday evening and night. Depending on how this coastal storm evolves, Tuesday through Thursday could be very wet and breezy. There is still some uncertainty as to which day next week will see the most inclement weather, but it does look unsettled for a lengthy period. We will have more details as we get closer.

Overnight lows next week will depend heavily on cloud cover: where skies clear, lows drop into the 30s again, but with clouds or rain around they stay in the low 40s to near 50.
