Frostburg State President Confident Of Keeping Accreditation
FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- Frostburg State University's president says he's confident the public school in western Maryland will keep its accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Cumberland Times-News reports that Ronald Nowaczyk spoke Thursday at the school's fall convocation, his first since taking office in May.
Middle States warned Frostburg State in June that its accreditation may be in jeopardy because of insufficient evidence that the school is complying with standards for institutional assessment and general education.
Nowaczyk says school officials met with a Middle States liaison this week and appointed a committee to ensure that all required documentation is completed by a March 1 deadline.
He says talks with the liaison have been "very encouraging," and he believes the school will meet the organization's expectations.
