Frostburg Police Officer Injured During Arrest

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- A Frostburg police officer was injured while arresting two college students.

The Cumberland Times-News reports that the officer responded to a location on Bowery Street in Frostburg to assist the Frostburg State University Police in an investigation of a fight in progress early Sunday. When the officer arrived just after midnight he arrested one student for urinating in public. Shortly after, another student approached the officer and assaulted him. A struggle ensued and the officer used his stun gun on the man, who police say was highly intoxicated. The officer did not require medical attention.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Andrew Douglas Baranski of Elkton, was arrested and charged with assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

A number listed for Baranski was disconnected on Sunday.
