Freezing Rain, Sleet Causes School Closures, Accidents In Maryland
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Sleet and freezing rain falling on Maryland Wednesday morning is creating a coating of ice throughout the area.
Many county school systems closed for the day, including Baltimore County, Carroll County, Harford County and Howard County. Some other local school systems will open two hours late.
Several accidents were also reported in the area as the ice built up on roads. Maryland State Police said they responded to multiple accidents on I-83 between 695 and the Pennsylvania line.

"Much of the snow that was leading the way has now started to really lift to the north and the west of us, so we're not going to see major snow accumulations," according to WJZ Meteorologist Tim Williams.
"Between 10 and noon, we think that's where we'll get our most accumulation of some freezing rain," says Marty Bass.
"We could see roughly .05" across the 95 corridor, getting thicker as you make your way out toward western Maryland," says Williams. "But again, it doesn't take very much. All it takes is a very thin layer, a very thin coating, to make for some treacherous, or some tricky conditions."
