Frederick Officials Warning Of Closures For Parade

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Motorists should be prepared to stop for Santa in Frederick.

Officials in the city are warning of traffic delays as a result of the annual Kris Kringle Procession on Friday.

The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. It starts on South Carroll Street and concludes at the band shelter in Baker Park. Children taking part in the parade will be dressed as reindeer, snowflakes, angels, elves, gifts and other characters. The event will close with music and the official lighting of the city's Christmas tree as well as a message from Kris Kringle.

Officials say there will be roads closed along the parade route through downtown, and officials are encouraging drivers to choose alternate routes.
