Noose Found In Frederick, Later Found To Be Part Of Suicide Attempt

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a noose found in Frederick County has now been found to have been to part of a man's suicide attempt.

Deputies were called to Kirkland Drive and Wade Court in Ballenger Creek Meadows Monday morning after a caller found an electrical cord fashion into a noose hanging from a tree.

The sheriff's office says the incident was documented following office procedure on hate crimes.

The noose reportedly concerned neighborhood residents after two other nooses were found in Maryland; one at University of Maryland in College Park, and another at a middle school in Crofton.

The sheriff's office says deputies canvassed the neighborhood and talked with numerous people who were unable to provide any information.

However, a few hours later, the sheriff's office says it received a follow-up call and was able to determine the noose was put in place by a man who attempted suicide by hanging himself.

The subject was transported to the hospital by deputies for an emergency evaluation.
