Frederick County Fire Chief Departs

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services Chief Denise Pouget says she has been forced out of her job after 20 months.

County Executive Jan Gardner announced Pouget's departure in a news release Thursday evening and thanked Pouget for service. Gardner declined to comment further.

But Pouget tells The Frederick News-Post (bit.ly/19hy0kL) that she was forced out of her job, adding that her departure "came out of nowhere."

The former chief said she could not comment further on the circumstance surrounding her departure from her job.

Pouget was appointed by the previous county administration in July 2013. She was the first female chief, and the first leader appointed since the agency was restructured to include both professional and volunteer fire-and-rescue services.
