Freddie Gray Lawyer Involved In Delaware Police Shooting

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- An attorney who won a settlement of more than $6 million from Baltimore officials in the death of Freddie Gray is representing the family of a man in a wheelchair who was killed by Wilmington police.

A spokesman confirmed Thursday that William "Billy" Murphy Jr. is representing the family of 28-year-old Jeremy McDole.

McDole was shot last month by police responding to a report about a man who had shot himself and was still armed with a gun.

A bystander's cellphone video shows police repeatedly ordering McDole to drop his weapon and raise his hands. Officers opened fire after McDole reached toward his waist.

Murphy's office declined to discuss his contractual arrangement with McDole's family or to explain specifically what he hoped to gain from his representation.
