Former Walter Reed Pediatrician Charged With Child Sex Offenses

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police have arrested a former pediatrician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on charges of sexually abusing three female relatives when they were children.

Leslie Boyd Altstatt, 83, of Silver Spring was arrested Friday and charged with numerous offenses, including sex offenses and child abuse.

Online court records do not list a lawyer for Altstatt.

Officers say in February, the accusers told investigators of the alleged abuse that they say occurred between 1964 and 1996. Police say one woman said the alleged abuse occurred when she was between the ages of 6 and 15.

Police say Altstatt worked as a pediatrician and researcher at Walter Reed from the mid-1960s until the early 1980s. According to the Maryland Board of Physicians website, Altstatt's medical license expired in 2010.
