Former Ravens RB Ray Rice To Appeal Indefinite Suspension

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- New developments in the ongoing Ray Rice saga.

ESPN is reporting that Rice will appeal his indefinite suspension from the NFL Monday.

The appeal will be handled by the NFL Players Association and by an outside lawyer retained by Rice.

The Ravens terminated Rice's contract after video surfaced showing him punching his now-wife. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell then served Rice with an indefinite suspension.

The league initially suspended Rice for two-games -- a punishment some called a slap on the wrist.

Goodell claims he hadn't seen the video prior to its release. He says the account that Rice gave him of the incident differed greatly from what actually happened.

The Associated Press, however, says a law enforcement source revealed he sent a DVD copy in April to an unnamed NFL executive. The source got a voicemail from an NFL number expressing thanks for the video.

The source says the NFL never followed up.
