Former Orioles Melvin Mora Will Become A U.S. Citizen This Week

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Former Orioles third baseman Melvin Mora will become a United States citizen during a naturalization ceremony in Baltimore this Wednesday, May 10.

Born in Venezuela, Mora, now 45, played 10 of his 13 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. In that time, Mora became a two-time All-Star and was inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame in 2015.

Mora will be one of about 50 citizenship candidates to participate in a naturalization ceremony being held at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Baltimore field office this week.

Mora retired from MLB in 2011, but is still on the franchise's top-10 list for doubles and RBIs.  He still lives in the Baltimore area.
