Former Officer Caught Stealing Electronics, More From Government

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A former Army police officer and sergeant at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) of Baltimore pleaded guilty to concealing and retaining stolen federal government property.

From December 2002 to February 2015, 45-year-old Gregory Lamont McNeill was a police officer and sergeant for the DA Police on APG. There, he patrolled the grounds during non-business hours.

McNeill would sometimes find buildings unlocked and void of staff due to late hours. According to his plea agreement, during these building checks, he would take items off government property for personal and family use.

Those items included government laptops, iPads, iPods, cameras and accessories, and other electronic equipment.

In the months following the thefts, authorities found that four of the five stolen Apple devices were linked to iTunes accounts belonging to McNeill or a member of his family.

McNeill stole approximately $35,000 worth of property belonging to the U.S. Army.

He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
