Former Baltimore Co. Police Cadet Admits To Evidence Room Thefts

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) -- Cash, drugs and other key pieces of evidence stolen from the evidence room at Baltimore County Police Headquarters.

Now there is a guilty plea from the man caught red-handed.

Nicholas Ishmael was a cadet with the Baltimore County Police Department and worked in the Evidence Management Unit.

Police say he was responsible for 15 separate acts of theft from the evidence room.

When he was arrested last June, police found more than $40,000 in a bag he was carrying.

In addition to stealing cash, Ishmael took Oxycodone and sold it on the street.

In circuit court, Ishmael pleaded guilty to felony theft with intent to distribute Oxycodone. He will be sentenced in April.

Prosecutors are asking for a 20 year prison sentence.
