Deputy, 2 EMTs Evaluated After Reporting Strange Odor During Call About Unattended Death In Forest Hill
FOREST HILL, Md. (WJZ) -- Hazmat crews investigated the source of a strange odor after two EMS providers and a Harford County Sheriff's Deputy reported feeling ill after responding to a unattended death call in Forest Hill on Tuesday night.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office said a deputy responded to a residence for a report of an unattended death around 7:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of Chestnut Hill Road in Forest Hill.
When the deputy entered the residence he became was bothered by a strong odor. He exited the residence and called for hazmat. He was taken to an area hospital as a precaution and later released Tuesday.
Two EMS providers called to the scene were also taken to an area hospital for further evaluation. Officials said the illnesses are non-life-threatening.
Hazmat determined the cause of odor was from moisture-absorbing materials that were present in the home in high volumes.

The cause of death of the resident is still under investigation, although no foul play is suspected.
