Food Program For Older Marylanders To Be Launched

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland is launching a supplemental food program for older residents.

Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Rona Kramer will officially kick off the initiative in Baltimore on Wednesday called "My Groceries to Go!"

It's a partnership between the department and the Maryland Food Bank with funding from the U.S. Agriculture Department.

The program promotes health eating and nutrition education while providing 40 pounds of nutritious food each month.

Beth Martino, the food bank's executive vice president, also is scheduled to attend, along with Baltimore officials and Tim Walsh, chief for Community Nutrition Programs at the U.S. Agriculture Department.
