Florida Man Charged For Raping Teen

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police say on May 17, a 26-year-old man from Florida raped a 16-year-old girl while giving her and another teen a ride home from Lexington Market.

Police say Darius Curry from Pompano, Fl. offered the two teens a ride, and they got into his car.

Once the friend was dropped off and Curry and 16-year-old were en route to her home, Curry allegedly pulled the car over and climbed into the front passenger seat where the victim was seated and overpowered her.

Curry forced the victim's pants down and sexually assaulted the teenager and then drove her home, police say.

Once dropped off, the teen victim reportedly was able to use her phone to record Curry driving away, and which allowed police to identify his car and license plate information.

Police say a Florida leasing company reported the vehicle stolen on April 23, 2017. Detectives contacted the leasing company and learned that the vehicle was equipped with "On-Star".

According to investigators, Fox-Trot, the Baltimore City Police Helicopter Unit was able to use the "On-Star" information to track the vehicle to the 2300 block of Perring Parkway.

Tactical Flight Officers relayed their observations to patrol units, and with the help of Fox-Trot, patrol officers were able to locate the vehicle, identify and arrest the suspect.

Police say Curry was transported to Central Booking where he has been charged with second-degree rape, first, second, third and fourth-degree sex offense as well as second-degree assault.
