No Injuries Reported At Baltimore Church Fire

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A three-alarm fire rips through a church in Northeast Baltimore.

Rochelle Ritchie explains how crews got the fire under control.

Baltimore City firefighters remain on the scene in the 4200 block of Loch Raven Boulevard. It took crews less than an hour to put out the flames.

Smoke billows out of the front doors of All Saints Lutheran Church after Baltimore City fire officials say a fire broke out in the basement.

"Units arrived on the scene and found this church with heavy smoke and fire conditions in the rear," firefighters said.

The smoke and flames could be seen all the way from Morgan State University.

"Coming across Northwood I could see flames and smoke high in the air in the back of a church. And I knew it was the church because I live right across the street," one woman said.

A grandmother raced to the scene after hearing the breaking news, fearing the worst for her two grandchildren.

Reporter: "How close was their daycare to this church?"

Grandmother: "Next door."

Right now, the fire remains under investigation. No word on even a possible cause.

"We're grateful that we were able to contain it quickly so it didn't spread and cause more damage. And especially there were no injuries to report," firefighters said.

The fire broke out just down the road from where another church caught fire in December.
