Firefighters: 1 Woman Killed In Apartment Fire In Oxon Hill

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County officials say one woman is dead after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Oxon Hill.

Firefighters were called to the building about 5 a.m. Sunday for reports of smoke in a hallway. Fire officials say the firefighters entered a third-floor apartment where a smoke alarm was sounding, and they found a small fire in the apartment.

Fire officials say a woman was found in the apartment with burn injuries. She was pronounced dead.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Damage from the fire was minimal. It was contained to the area where it started in the apartment. Few, if any, other residents of the building are expected to be displaced.
