4 Taken To Hospital After Apartment Fire In Northeast Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Fire breaks out at an apartment complex in Northeast Baltimore. Several people are rescued and several injured, including children.

Witnesses describe a chaotic scene, with some people jumping out of windows. Others were trapped inside.

The call came in around 7 p.m. for a report of flames and smoke shooting out of an apartment complex in the 800 block of Dartmouth Road.

Baltimore City firefighters say when they arrived on scene they found that two people had already jumped out of a second story window. They had to rescue three others by ladder.

Four others were still trapped inside. Firefighters say they were able to get in and pull the adult and three children to safety. Some of them needed CPR.

All four were transported to a local hospital. No word no the extent of their injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
