Fire Officials: Man Dies In Germantown Blaze

GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County officials say a 65-year-old man has died in a fire at a Germantown home.

Fire and rescue officials say the fire was reported Thursday morning at the home on Jamieson Place after a man driving in the area spotted smoke.

When police and firefighters arrived, they found a woman on the first floor of the home who said there was a man upstairs. Officials say firefighters found the man, who died from his injuries at the scene and the woman was taken to an area hospital.

Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Chief Dee Howard Richards says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
