Fire Displaces 6 In Germantown After Electrical Malfunction

GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Four adults and two children have been displaced after a fire destroyed a home in a Germantown trailer park.

Montgomery County fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says the first spread under the floor of the home due to an electrical malfunction. Investigators say electrical heating tape used on frozen pipes was blamed for igniting the fire.

The fire broke out on water pipes near a water heater.

Two firefighters were sustained minor injuries in the blaze. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
