Another round of rain expected Sunday afternoon/evening

A rainy Saturday on the menu for Marylanders, temps float in the 40s

BALTIMORE -- We saw a bit of rain on Saturday with some areas seeing more than a half inch.

Sunday started with a round of rain and dense fog. Once the first batch of rain moved out, spotty showers move through before another round of widespread rain associated with a cold front. A few heavier showers are possible along with a low threat of a thunderstorm. We aren't expecting severe weather here in Maryland but our neighbors in the south may have stronger storms.

That next round of rain moves out late tonight and we get a chance to dry out on Monday. There may be some fog again on Monday before a brighter day.

In addition to the (much needed) rainfall expected, milder air has settled in for the next few days. We're expecting daytime highs, and overnight lows, well above the seasonal average.

Be sure to take it easy on the roads if you're traveling to or from your holiday destinations.

The WJZ First Alert Weather team is finetuning the timing of Tuesday PM's rain for your New Year's Eve travels - be sure to keep up with the latest forecast in the coming days.

New Year's Day 2025 looks dry and still a bit on the mild side. But colder temperatures will arrive as we move toward the first weekend of the new year.
