Few Problems Along Roads As Rain Turns To Snow
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland State Highway Administration says it saw few problems on the roads as rain turned to snow and sleet.
The National Weather Service received snowfall report around the region Sunday ranging from traces to nearly 9 inches in Manchester in Carroll County. Highway officials warned motorists to stay off the roads as heavy snow fell, cutting visibility.
Weather service meteorologist Brian Lasorsa says with temperatures above freezing, much of the snow melted overnight.
The National Weather Service received rainfall reports of more than 2 inches from several spots after days of rain.
Lasorsa says widespread flooding isn't expected, but there could be localized flooding along the Monocacy River in Frederick County, the Patapsco River in Howard County and in the Upper Marlboro area of Prince George's County.
