Feel-Good Friday: Md. Policemen Rescue Kitten From Car Engine

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A very small orange and white kitten is alive and well today because of the hard work of four local policemen and a good Samaritan.

A call came in around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday that the scared six or seven-week-old cat was stuck in the engine compartment of a Honda Civic in the parking lot of a business on Constant Friendship Blvd. in Abingdon.

Together, Sgt. James Plumer, Deputy Tucker Fries, Deputy Richard Basilone, Cpl. Christopher Aycock (pictured above) and an employee of Boyle Buick, saved it.

During the rescue, the kitten moved and got even more stuck under the gas tank, which required a tow truck to help lift the car, and the situation was worsened by pouring rain.

Ultimately, though, the team of five came to the rescue, according to Harford County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Cristie A. Kahler.

She reports that "Sam" is doing well and has found a cozy new home.
