Father Of Slain Student Decries Gun Violence

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (WJZ/AP) -- The father of a Northern Arizona University student who was fatally shot in a campus shooting says something needs to be done about gun violence in the U.S.

Doug Brough, of Castle Rock, Colorado, visited a makeshift memorial Saturday in the parking lot where his son, Colin Brough, was killed.

Colin spent his freshmen and sophomore years at Broadneck High School  in Annapolis, Maryland, where he played lacrosse and was an honor roll student.

Brough told The Arizona Republic that he didn't understand why an 18-year-old would have a pistol in his car.

He says gun violence is "devastating" and has to be stopped throughout the country.

Authorities say 18-year-old Steven Jones shot Colin Brough and wounded three other students early Friday following a brawl between two groups of students.
