Fatal Frostburg Fire Was 'Likely Accidental'

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says a Valentine's Day house fire that killed a Frostburg State University student was likely accidental.

The agency said Thursday it hasn't yet determined the specific ignition source of the blaze that claimed the life of 23-year-old Lateef Gazal of Bowie.

The fire marshal's office says the business administration major died of burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

Two other occupants of the rented home escaped the early morning fire with minor injuries. A fourth housemate wasn't home at the time.
