1 Dead, 1 Missing After Severn House Fire

SEVERN, Md. (AP) -- An Anne Arundel County fire official says one person is dead and a second is unaccounted for after a house fire in Severn.

Fire department spokesman Capt. Russ Davies says the fire was reported around 3:40 a.m. Thursday on Old Camp Meade Road. When firefighters arrived, Davies says they found the house fully engulfed and it took about 40 minutes to control the blaze.

Davies says firefighters found one person dead inside. He says relatives told investigators that two people should have been home.

Davies said the search for the missing person was suspended at nightfall Thursday. It will resume Friday morning, when more heavy equipment will be brought in.

Davies says damage is estimated at about $300,000. He says a fire at the home in February was deemed accidental.
