Police Arrest Teen, Identify Man Killed In Double Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police have arrested a 17-year-old, and identified the man he is accused of killing during a double shooting Thursday morning in Baltimore.

17-year-old Eric Gilyard has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, and related firearms charges, in the murder of 30-year-old Walter Baynes.

Another victim, a 69-year-old man, was also taken to a local hospital.

An officer was investigating another call near N. Regester and E. Lafayette Ave., when shots were fired. The officer chased after a person, later identified as Gilyard, seen fleeing from the scene.

Gilyard was taken into custody and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered.
