Fans Welcome Orioles Home After O'Mazing Postseason Ride

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The Orioles returned home Thursday night and received a warm welcome by a small group of devoted fans.

Meghan McCorkell reports the AL East and ALDS Champions arrived at Camden Yards just after 6 p.m.

Despite the loss, fans say they are proud of their team.

It didn't end the way we hoped. But, Oh, what a ride it was.

A sea of orange stood up in the stands at Camden Yards as the Orioles powered through the post season.

"This whole year, the stands are full. You know a lot more orange. A lot more orange and black," said Eric Johnson, Orioles fan.

The orange and black also took over businesses around the stadium.

"I've been here for 23 years. I've never see that many Orioles fans in here in the 23 years I've been here," said David Thomas, Cross Street Market.

Now that the season's over, fans say they are proud to back the birds.

"I want to thank Buck and boys personally. They made this season a lot of fun," said Gary Tyranski, Orioles fan.

As fans say thank you to the team, the team is also showing its appreciation for Baltimore.

"We got to remind the country what a great baseball city, and city in general that Baltimore is," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.

Second baseman Ryan Flaherty Tweeted: "It will always be an honor to put on the uniform in one of the best sports cities in the country. Thanks, Baltimore. "

"A big thank you to birdland for all the support during this memorable season," Orioles reliever T.J. McFarland said.

While the team's amazing October is over, O's fans won't stop counting down to opening day.

If you're counting, there's less than six months until the O's are back on the field here at the yard.

The O's first spring training game is March 4 against the Detroit Tigers.
