Ex-Transit Chief Gets Year In Prison For Taking Bribes

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The former transit chief for Baltimore has been sentenced to a year in prison for his role in a $90,000 bribery scheme.

Sixty-five-year-old Barry Stephen Robinson of Accokeek was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Baltimore.

Robinson oversaw the city's circulator and water taxi programs and had the authority to approve contracts buy and pay for goods and services.

Prosecutors say Robinson took a $20,000 bribe to cancel a $60,000 debt and took a $70,000 bribe to allow the theft of unused city bus shelters worth $250,000.
