Easter Celebrated By Christians Throughout Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Around the world, millions of Christians honored one of their holiest days on Sunday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Christians across Baltimore celebrated Easter with different traditions and customs on this holy day.

Inside the Christian Life Church, there was a joyous gathering to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"Jesus offers resurrection power," said Dr. Hugh Bair, with Christian Life Church. "He has resurrected to bring wonderment and amazement in ones life."

Through music and readings, it's a tradition uniting all ages. Inviting them to return all year long.

"They should feel welcome, so it's our job as a Christian body, for someone coming in for the first time, that that experience would be so powerful for them, that they would want to come back again," said Christian Life Church Elder Brian Scriven.

Across town at the Baltimore Basilica, there was another glorious celebration.

"When we truly are joyful in the resurrection of the Lord, all kinds of doors open up for us," said Archbishop William Lori.

Bringing together loved ones and friends.

"Just trying to be better every day, and today thanking God for what he has done for me," said Jenny Diaz, who lives in Baltimore.

To reflect on what this sacred day represents.

"This should make us recognize that much more unites us than divides us," said Lori. "And we should look for paths of unity, the resurrection gives us the strength for unity."

Easter celebrations continue this week, as the White House Easter Egg Roll will take place on the south lawn Monday.
