Early Morning Electrical Fire Causes Traffic Delays

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Officials responded Friday morning to reports of a building fire downtown.

Firefighters arrived in the 400 block of West Redwood Street to find smoke coming from the building and an electrical fire from a transformer volt.

Baltimore Gas and Electric was requested to the scene to turn off the power. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes.

The fire occurred before normal business hours, but the building was evacuated of personnel who were inside.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire operations did cause traffic delays downtown and they remain as the investigation is ongoing.
