Trooper Struck While Attempting To Pull Over DWI Suspect

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)-- An Edgewater man is behind bars after authorities say he struck a trooper's vehicle attempting to pull him over on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, 23-year-old Dillon Haneke, is charged with driving under the influence after an incident on Rt. 50 in Anne Arundel County.

State Police say they were trying to pull over Haneke on Rt. 50, near exit 29, after he was seen weaving across lanes  driving 10 mph. The trooper—with his lights activated- apparently even pulled up next to the driver and yelled toward Haneke, but he continued driving.

At some point during the pursuit Haneke struck the driver's side of the trooper's vehicle and then flipped onto its side just before the Bay Bridge.

Haneke is charged with driving under the influence, assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held in the Anne Arundel County central booking center.

Police say no one was injured in the incident.
