Driver Crashes Car, Passenger Shot During Escape From Gunman

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A woman was hospitalized after being shot and involved in a car crash early Sunday morning in Baltimore.

Officer responded to the 100 block of W. Mulberry Street for a reported crash.

Police say the driver of the vehicle apparently crashed the vehicle into wall on Mulberry Street sometime after fleeing from a shooting suspect.

The victim says she was standing in the 1100 block of W. Lafayette Ave. around 3:00 a.m. when an unknown man announced a robbery and assaulted her.

The victim then attempted to get away in her vehicle when the suspect open fire striking a 24-year-old passenger inside the victim's car.

The woman was driving to the hospital when she crashed her vehicle for an unknown reason. The driver suffered minor injuries.

The 24-year-old passenger sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body. Both victims are expected to survive.
